Antonietta Collins
Antonietta Toni Collins is also referred to as Antonietta Gonzales-Collins in the United States and Mexico, is an American Mexican sportscaster. She currently works for ESPN as a news anchor for SportsCenter as well as occasionally hosting SportsNation. She began working for ESPN as a reporter in the year 2016. She is the daughter of the TV journalist Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta Collins has been bilingual since the age of nine years old, a valuable skill that helped her secure her first job as a production assistant at Univision in Miami and gave her the chance to be a part of the production team for National programs like Nuestra Belleza Latina, Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud and Primer Impacto. Her next assignment was reporter for sports at CBS St. Petersburg. CBS St. Petersburg Affiliate. In 2009 she moved to Rio Grande Valley to work as a reporter for KNVO TV 48 Univision & Fox2 News. The stories she wrote about covered immigration drugs, immigration, as well as various other topics on the Texas as well as the Mexico border. She was also an anchor and Spanish reporter at the newscast from 5 p.m. as well as anchor and reporter for the newscast at 9 p.m. with a reporter and anchor in English and a Spanish reporter for 10 p.m. Also, she would fill in on occasion as a weather and sports anchor. Then she became the anchor and reporter for Univision Dallas' Deportes 23. In the following years, she was given larger responsibilities. She also wrote articles to sports like the NBA, Dallas Cowboys' postseason, NBA ALDS ALCS World Series or Finals FC Dallas. In addition, she hosted Univision 23's local sports show Accion Deportiva Extra on which she was anchor. Then, she became the sports host on the morning show of Despierta America Deportes. As a sports anchor she was employed by Primer Impacto (a network magazine) as well as Contacto Deportivo (a UniMas Network sports channel). Antonietta Collins' parents were originally from Veracruz Mexico. In Mexico City she was conceived on the 22nd November 1985. Also, she has a younger sibling. In 1992 her family left Mexico and relocated to Miami. In 1992, the couple divorced and shortly afterward in 1995 she got married again Fabio Fajardo, an engineer in the naval sector who passed away in 2006 due to kidney cancer. In the summer in 2006 she took an entire week with her sister in Canton Ohio. The older Collins girl was working at the time. Antonietta still a senior at high school, yet she knew exactly what career path she wanted to pursue. When she was deciding whether Mount Union was right for her Antonietta visited the school. As it turned out she loved the campus and they were offering the degree she was searching for. Following her graduation from her high school education, she chose to enroll at the university to pursue a degree in media studies. Professor Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a member of the class, established an ongoing relationship with the student. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be self-confident and his passion for journalism deeply influenced her. She was determined to live up to his expectations and never let him down.
